I'm wondering if it has something to do with how the Dap bonded to the edges of the skim coat and the plaster underneath, but no idea if that's even a thing.
Nothing seems to be spreading beyond the edge of the repair and when I dig into the wall with a razor blade, nothing seems mushy. It looks a lot like water damage, but the wall seems dry. I troweled some Dap plaster patch on to even things out and then hit it with a layer of latex paint and forgot about it.įast forward and the edges of the repair are looking pretty brown. I don't know if the damage was from previous water damage or what, but the plaster underneath was dry. The skim coat was cracking and came away from the plaster underneath with minimal tapping/vacuuming. 1904 house - lots of "character." A few months ago I patched a dinner-plate size portion of the wall with Dap plaster patch.
